This is what we’re up against

  1. Bnonn ran circles around them in that. Truly, the blindness of the reprobate is on display for all to see.

On my own Facebook wall, I have a friend who I used to know from high school and who was brilliant on the debate team, who became a die-hard atheist. I quoted John Adams: "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." His mind is now so warped that he argued that this showed Adams was saying that atheists are good apart from the Constitution and religious people are so evil they need it to keep them in line. Even though that plainly turns the statement on it's head, I gave him the entire context of the quote, which made it all the more clear. He still maintained that up was down and black was white.

It was at that point that I really grasped how foolish those who hate God are. A guy who I knew from firsthand experience to have been super intelligent to now be that dumb cannot be explained apart from spiritual blindness. I think we will witness more and more how "their foolish hearts were darkened" as we go on, save only for if God relents and gives mercy instead.

    1. What's sad is that some of these are people who claim to be Christians who seem to have no idea of what Christ was all about.

    2. Sounds like a Psalms 2 and 14 thing.

  2. The opinions put forth by Bnonn's opponents are typical; God made people that way, God is love, we are supposed to love and accept everybody. Like the snake in the Garden, there is some truth mixed with much error. But, what kind of savior "saves" you from sin and leaves you in the midst of it at the same time?

  3. Sorry if this comment posts twice (for some reason all mine do on this site), but what was patently obvious in the thread was the inability of Bnonn's opponents to master basic principles of reasoning and logic. They refused to see the implications of their position.

  5. It's yet more evidence of the doctrine of Total Depravity. The Fall affected all of man's faculties, including his reason.

There's no "Holy of Holies" behind the eyeballs wherein if we could just frame the argument properly and define our terms clearly that we'd find a place of convergence between believing and unbelieving thought.

Fallen man is as sinful in his thinking as he is in every other area.
